NYC folklore illustrated with strength, diversity & wisdom.

Brooklyn Fables

Illustrated stories full of animals, myth and satire. The Jungle of Claws & Teeth is romping with black panther legends, purple tiger lore and strawberry elephant philosophy. Written & illustrated by Brooklyn artist Stamatis Rex, this collection of stories all connect to form a high concept epic on the self while championing NYC value of strength, diversity and wisdom.

Everything is everything and the Strawberry Elephant is everywhere. Featuring Aesop’s Tortoise and Hare, this little parable was inspired by a Buddhist fable, hand-illustrated in Brooklyn to celebrate wisdom, diversity and openness.

Femme hero or mythic supervillain, the purple tiger smashes the patriarchy when she challenges the Sun to a race around the world. This fully illustrated fable drives the entire series, teaching the virtues of power, dedication, ambition and control.

The Black Sage keeps a secret that will change the Jungle forever. Peter Panther rebels against the tiger’s rule and ventures east to the Floating Island, where his strength, courage and faith will be tested.
